The opportunities opening up with newer technology don’t have to leave older or inexperienced technicians behind who are maybe used to a more monolithic structure to things. This blog and site are a sandbox of sorts to highlight growth and to work on self improvement in multiple areas. A good worksmith has a lot of tools at his disposal, and there does not need to be a lot of false mystery or gatekeeping. The unique angle for this site is a willingness to “focus on scope creep” and how to control that. There’s a little bit of everything here in digestible chunks; AI, machine learning, AWS, IoT, fusion energy, graphics, telemetry, health, and data science just to name a few. The common ground is inside the computer as a set of paintbrushes or ingredients in a kitchen.

There are other mid-life and young career professionals watching the world change around us at an alarming rate. Some of the smaller projects listed here are taught to school-age kids, but these projects’ IOT and open source nature are a perfect platform for growth into other areas. Where adults could build some of these projects in a matter of days or weeks, the codebases can take a lot longer with many more teams. It has been a slow burn since the pandemic. This site and the work in it were created through a stubborn refusal to just sit and watch the world burn. Freedom, liberty, and self determination are still alive and well, even in tech. The AI boom is coming down to a personal level in our daily lives and that does not always have to mean encroachment or erosion of freedoms.

The blog layout here is meant to be simple for now to highlight projects and the use of physical and virtual assets. The power of the written word is exercised here instead of just another talking head video to get lost in a feed.

There is a consistent joke about Skynet learning at a geometric rate. We humans adopt a fatalistic attitude that we can not do the same for ourselves.

We may not learn that fast at a geometric rate, but we can learn far more than a school or job would ever let us. We can have economic and personal growth, and happy cows and low electricity bills, all at the same time. If a 3D printer can operate on the power of a lightbulb, then so can AI. The trick is managing expectations. AI is more like an advanced search feature. We look to highlight a lot of those features and show you how to work with them locally and in the cloud both. That is the real exercise of freedom, liberty, and personal determination that we look to exude here. Social media can be a bad joke and a waste of time, along with AI, if either are misused.

After 30 surgeries and a stroke this site was made to show what is still possible with personal freedoms. It was those same freedoms that Western doctors used to repair, and that I used through Eastern medicine to perfect. Some choose to use their freedoms and first amendment right to protest and be destructive. Those freedoms are used here to be constructive to get the job done. You should be able to reproduce most everything here in a practical sense if you know your way around with a few tools and software. It may ramble now and then but will always come back to a point and try to be relatable to a curious reader.
